Got a Specialized Hardrock downstairs you can have - needs new tubes and a bit of chain lovin' but it works.... I think
Let's say £70 leaving you some budget for tubes at the moment - I'll assess the situation later on today and may increase/decrease price depending on condition/if I can be arsed to go buy tubes to get it running.

Cut the middle man and invest in an angle grinder.

By the way, there are often perfectly rideable Raleigh road bikes for about £60 on Gumtree at least twice a week.

Yeah, been there.
Thing is, and that has been my main thing about all of this.. Everything I checked on gumtree, London area, under 100squid, is def stolen!!
Either that or it just wasn't the right thing (size). -

I've got a large marin palisades - you can have it for 60 squids.

nuknow, if you find something just outside London and want to pick it up by car, let me know.
There are always some old bikes in Buckinghamshire, Readding etc. -

I actually know this guy in Basingstoke, he's got a complete Peugeot, really really nice.
Thing is that he only sells the bike for a minimum of £70, and the train is around £25...
New tubes and tires, etc, etc.... well, I would have gone maybe, but it's not for me.
Anyone interested though, the bike is a charm, really nice condition.

I'm still on the look for any bike within the price range (£70), non-fixed.
My friend pretty much needs any piece of junk anyone might have. I've been contacted
by some of you and offered some really nice kits, but thats missing the point here.
1st, the last thing my friend needs is a 'fixie'... he just can't cope with it.
If anyone has any MTB, hybrid, whatever, please let me know, for about £60/70 max.
Oh, and obviously it's not the case of wanting frames.... but complete bikes, like max changing
tubes/tires.
Please.
Thanks,

Hey dude.
I have a single-speed Scott MTB frame conversion with Kona P2 forks.
It's got new Shimano Cranks and BB, Riser bars, V-brakes front and rear.
Wheels are Deore LX front to Mavic rim and Deore rear to Alex rim, both true and smooth.
Brand new 23c Conti GP tires w/tubes.
Also Azonic World Force Stem and Bontrager saddle.
Has a few nifty 'security' fixes of my own and has been left overnight in many locations without trouble (probably because it looks like a heap of ****).
Headset is smooth and secure and the whole bike rides surprisingly well.
I was going to sell it on here, but it sounds ideal for your friend.
Pics can be sent later tonight/tomorrow.
Price I'm unsure of yet, but towards the top end of your budget.
I also have a Kryptonite D-lock and Cateye lights if he's interested.

^ Thats what I'm on about! perfect, specially if the D-lock comes with it.
Please do hit me with somes pics, maybe after seeing it we can even agree on a fairer
price, let's see.
Will be waiting, cheers,
NunoPS: He's kinda of depressed (no joke), about not having a bike still, so he will be willing to collect asap, cash in hand....and a kit-kat : D

No worries dude. I was a bit dad to see it go, it's serves me very well.
I think it's the perfect run around. Decent parts and quite unstealable.
I'm glad it's gone to a good home :-)

Bump.
Again, a friend of mine is looking for a (preferably), ladies bike for someone 5'5".
She had already something on gumtree but 'm pretty sure it was a dodgy business,
£40 for a folding bike in Leyton... Anyway, I thought to give the Forum a try since
it has always worked before. Her budget is £80, and yes I'm being realistic, this thread is
a good example that a full bike can come at a nice little price.
Obviously she's not fussy at all, the main thing would be something ready to roll, we will collect. Please let me know if there's anything available you might know guize..
Obrigado ;)Nuno
Hello boys an' girls,
I've got a friend who has just arrived from Portugal to stay working in London, and I've done my part of the deal, convince him to cycle everywhere from now on.
Thing is, not only he cannot afford something very expensive, he doesn't even know how long he's staying here.
No time to set something up as he needs the bike asap.
His budget goes up to £75, for a complete bike... now, no fancy stuff here.
Anything will do, as long as it's reliable... MTB, Hybrid, whateva.
I would hate to see more people going to places like Bricklane in this sort of situation, so if you people have anything at all to spare, I can collect.
Please let me know.
Cheers,
N
