What thew shoes with the shitest heel known to man?
That would be almost all Boreals in my case... I suppose this just goes to prove all the advice about finding a shoe that fits your own bizarrely shaped hooves.
(Anasazis are still the best, though.)

Try loads on - it's amazing how the different manufacturers cater for different foot shapes - must be exagerated compared to normal shoes as you're buying them so tight. I'm a La Sportiva type myself...

i used to wear these a size smaller then i was, fitted pretty well when i used to go climbing in a little rock climbing room in crystal palace centre.
Iv got these as well, very good shoes for the price.

i can't help but keep on pronouncing Anasazis "Ass Nazis".
agreed that a lot of boreals are good starter shoes. Red chilli is also a decent make for entry-/mid-level climbing.
personally, i tend to find that one size down is plenty.

No worries, I've heard that's the correct Native American pronunciation.

V mile ftw. Pointyish at the front, comfy sole on the heel. Don't see whats wrong with velcro, whats the scoop? -

New climbing wall in S.E London
http://www.thereach.org.uk/Infoandprices.htmlWhat's this place like, it will be quiet handy as it's on my way home, will avoid the detour to mile end and will be alot easier for my bro coming up from kent.

Mine have holes in the toes. :(
Had them resoled once (wouldn't bother), now too poor to buy new ones.
I started climbing in laceups but I thought there were plenty of cheap and decent velcro shoes these days...? Maybe I need to start going to climbing shops again.

Anybody here know the best source for cheap chalk?
-
• #37
i use the block chalk, it's only 1.50 a block and lasts ages. but i don't know if you are looking for bulk buy or whatever i'm afraid!

damn i haven't been climbing in six weeks now. unemployment + expensive hobbies = fail :(
I always use chalk bags, but only out of habit, rather than preferring them to blocks.
-

Never found any need for cheap chalk. Always just used the little chalk bags that cost a quid or two. They usually last a couple of months climbing a few times a week.

I know it's still a fiver, but The Reach in woolwich advertised a deal for climbing for £5 every friday in March (best to call first to check it's not only for members). I know mile end does £5 for students not sure about ub40 deals though.

I need chalk for weightlifting, get through it a bit quicker than with climbing considering Id use it at least 3 times every week. It seems "go outdoors" have the cheapest stuff, but I dont have a store near me.

There are a few of us popping over to the boulder on Shoreditch Park to have a bit of a climb and see what it's like there. The more the merrier.

I've had a bit of a play on the Shoreditch boulder before but didn't do too much as I don't have a bouldering mat. Do you guys have one to take along?

'Almost' time for Southern Sandstone? HTFU :) We've been down there twice already this year.
I've always wondered about the Shoreditch Park boulder. What's it like? Will have to take my climbing shoes to work one day and visit it at lunch.

When you've worked out which pair are the best then just get em online for cheaper.
I really strongly think you shouldn't do this, unless it's Blacks or Milletts or some other high street supremo. I don't mean to be a thread dullard highjacker but I work in an independent shop and we try really hard to give people the best service and its a bit gutting when people take it all in then trot off to buy whatever it is online for 5 or 10 quid cheaper. Rant over.
