  • My favourite has to be the film noir classic Ghost in the Shell

YouTube- Ghost in the Shell: Innocence - Opening

  • Loved Fist of the North Star.

The dude with the laser/light streaks.

Anyone remember/seen the original Guyver series?

  • "Ghost? In my Shell?

  • Saw Ponyo the other day, in Japanese with subs, really good and quite charming, as ever.

  • Apart from Salmo above, not appearing to realise that Anime is the Japanese cartoon art
(obviously not all cartoons are Anime) this is a really promising thread.

That said, who's been following Naruto Shippuden? Jiraiya bought the farm, at the hands of Pain.
Brutal stuff. Now Naruto is learning Sage style from the frog leader.

    Also Bleach. Anyone a fan?

  • Haha, Im a huge naruto fan its getting pretty intense at the moment.
What else are people watching at the moment? Im really loving Durarara

  • Sumo, the last person I know to post a pic of their own lady, and got unstuck with it, was this guy on a motorcyling forum. Its not a good thing.

  • I'm sorry, I'm just to proud to have her in my life.

  • I'm sorry, I'm just to proud to have her in my life.

    Thats the spirit.

  • Pardon me for being impolite, but this thread makes me feel the need to shout "AKIRA!"

    AKIRA!

    (continue ad infinitum)

  • Wicked City - vicious c*nt, literally.

  • I'm sorry, I'm just to proud to have her in my life.

I like how she has various shades of nail varnish. They must really compliment her skin.

  • NEVER EVER watch Grave of the Fireflies. that's the saddest movie ever. its from studio ghibli who did spirited away and other classics, but this film is just utterly heart wrenching

Are they still longing out episodes for no reason, sticking in fillers where they're not needed and being generally cheesy all the time? I switched to the monga about 2 years ago because I got fed up with the infuriating pacing. Now it only takes 5 mins to read each week and no-one in my flat has to know that I follow a Japanese story for pre-pubescent boys...

  • Its a work of art.

  • I keep forgetting about Naruto for weeks then catching up all at once, makes the filler slightly more bearable.
Looking forward to the autumn anime season kicking off, hopefully there will be some decent stuff after a disappointing summer. As much as I hate to admit I'm turning into quite an anime nerd

  • You want to watch the Hellsing series; the original, followed by the OVA version. The episodes are only 20 minutes in the first version and double that in the OVA/Ultimate version. It's quite something.

  • i like Akira, but hte books (graphic novels anyway) were far superiour.
very different story, and one that could not be squeezed into 2 hours

Ichi the Killer was good, as good as the live action i'd say.

Ghost in the Shell is over-rated (awaits flaming)

Watchmen tales of the black freighter, is pretty good, but i am a watchmen fanboi

  • Ghost? In my shell??

  • Animation Festival on at the Barbican this week. Phil Mulloy had his new feature shown at the opening, this is an older animation by him.

Over represented perhaps? As in its the only Manga a lot of people have heard about beyond DBZ etc, so lots of people talk about it

I really thought the film suffered by not including this. Not sure how they could have done it, but the comic within the comic added so much texture to the story, and without being too obvious, set the stage for what would happen in each section

  • was just about to start a thread on this: I'm thinking about resurrecting my 100+ Classic Manga VHS collection in DVD. I've created a list but I think i'm missing a couple:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/13368DQ6VBQR9"]Amazon.com: Ben Nickolls: Classic Anime DVD[/ame]

what am i missing? I'm not interested in anything past Ghost in the Shell really or anything from Studio Ghibli (I have a Totoro on my bedroom wall and I'm nearly 30, nuff said..)
