I'm running a shimano 7 speed ultegra group on my merckx corsa extra, with 7 speed ergo's (off the bay). Bit of a bodge but works fine, still plenty of good 7 speed bits around to be had.. Will eventually upgrade to a 10 speed set up when I've got the cash..
