Erasing the latter part of the evening from my mind (UEFA fascist conspiracy - again) ...
I went to see the surgeon this evening. He inspected my arse and the wound that he had made in it. The original lesion is now closed and although there is still some fluid around the back of my buttock it is considerably improved on how it was before the first operation. The only way to treat the remaining part of the lesion would be to open my buttock completely and roll it back and remove all the scar tissue that has formed. He could not do this through the opening that he had made as the lesion is simply too big and his arm seemingly too small to reach the deepest depths of my buttock. It would not be worth such drastic surgery. I will have to live with the slight remaining lesion. It may spoil the fine symmetry of my backside but should not impair my life otherwise.
The surgical wound is now healing well and is separated from the lesion. Although I have an inch and a half deep hole at present, it should heal by the time I next see him in three weeks. For the moment I must continue with daily dressings but the nurses will monitor it and move me to every other day when appropriate.
Interestingly, even if the original doctors had spotted the lesion, he reckons that surgery would have been necessary. Simple drainage would have resulted in the lesion refilling.
Finally, I asked him if I could start gentle exercise.
He said yes as the lesion was no longer a worry and separated from the entry wound. Gentle exercise would be fine.
How about cycling on a turbo?
Yes that would be alright.
How about on the road?????
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, tomorrow I will ride on the turbo, gently and see how it goes and build up my wasted muscles. On Saturday I will try a gentle road ride.
So you see, whatever corrupt practices UEFA may try and throw at us, at least today has brought some good news for which I have been waiting for ten weeks. Indeed it is ten weeks since the surgeon said that I would be able to ride again in 10 to 12 days. A very long ten weeks.
It's not over yet and there may still be a set back or two to come but the beginning of the end is here.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
