I sometimes nip onto the pavement but always give way to peds and stop completely if it looks like anyway near a squeeze. Douchebags who pelt down the pavement do need to be schooled (interpret that as you will). I have only lost my temper once at another cyclist (actually, that's giving him too much respect - he was a cock with a bike). Crossing a ped crossing with mrs stevo and her then 2 year old brother, who she was carrying. Green man for us, red light for traffic. There was a van and a car stopped in the opposite lane as we were crossing. Just as we were in front of the van this knob came flying past it's left hand side, grabbing his brakes and just about stopping before he hit mrs stevo and little stevo-in-law. I was that shaken, both with fear for there safety and anger at what had and could have happened. I made some non de-script angry noise and lurched towards him. He properly shit himself (I'm not a small chap and the noise probably still had a Northern Irish accent) but luckily I regained my senses to the fact that a) there was an impressionable 2 year old with us and b) that I'm not very good at violence. Point being, I'm still not sure how I would deal with a similar situation if I forgot either a) or b)
