Does anyone know if its worth it to lace up one of them vintage weinmann 27 1 1/4 rims to fixed hubs. I went to BLB today and the bike mechanic told me it was not worth it because those rims are to fragile and they could bend if I hit a pavement. Suggestions anyone?

Don't hit the pavement then. I don't.
How do you think people used to race on the road 40 years ago? There used to be pot holes too.

Yeah the bloke at blb sounds like a cunt. probably trying to worry you into buying some new rims off him.

To sausagefingers: yeah true dat. The mechanic at the shop was cool though at blb. But it does seem that some of the salesmen in the shop don't know shit about bikes and are cunts. Lol. Thanks for the encouragement. I shall lace them motherfuckers how I want.
To east end images: It is true that those wheels were use competitively ages ago. Plus these wheels have been on my bike ages and are still fine all this time. I now believe that newly made rims are shittier.
thanks for the 411
Pair of Weinmann LP18 black rim wheels, stainless steel spokes.
The rear hub accepts freewheel or fixed sprocket. I have been using them on a fixed conversion for more than a year. There is not a reverse thread for a lockring but I didn't ever find this a problem but it does mean you can't use cranks to brake.
They are true and in good condition - obvious wear from brakes on outside rims.
Looking for £40-50 the pair.
