  • polo on ice.

  • and they balance the weight of the bike and compensate drive power.

  • big and slick. that's my theory.

  • big and slick. that's my style.

    ha!

  • dudes who need to go fast on snow have long skis, that's a given. where does that put us on the tyre thing?

this is because you dig into snow if your weight is not spread out. You are unlikely to sink into asfalt ;)

Those skinny crosscountry skis are only good for pre-prepared compact snow anyway. I've got some nice and wide mountian skis for wondering off the beaten track, and a bit of telemarking.

  • bill, i stand corrected; this thread is epic.

  • Potato chop that, Matt.

  • Thats traction mate. Wickipedia fecking says so.

  • ....it also says that friction is area independant, but that traction is infact related to surface area.

  • thats basically what i said... but without the floating blue egg.

The floating blue egg isthe key in all this. I'm certain.

Those two situations are both a result of a force overcoming the available traction. or......

  • Ah, so it's all explained by Ray's egg. I'll get him to explain it in words of one word syllable.
