  • Ghost Stories.

    Holy moly..

Written by Andy Nyman (Derren Brown collaborator) and Jeremy Dyson (League of Gentlemen) at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. Think tickets are between £10-£25 but its quite a compact little place so even my cheapish seats were close enough to the action.

The concept is awesome - set up as a lecture on the paranormal with Andy Nyman's character introducing us to three people he has interviewed as part of his studies. As the interviewees recall the events that scared them we see the action replayed, intesnely gripping. You could feel this tension in the theatre meaning that although jumps were anticipated they still shocked and the comedic parts were met with relieved laughter. I won't give any story away, but the whole presentation was really on-the-ball - Nyman's experience in mentalism and understanding the power of utilising senses other than sight created a insanely engaging piece of theatre.

I watch a lot of horror films and loved this, but I think anyone who fancies some top notch acting and a very original presentation will enjoy it. Same price as an IMAX visit and much better than any film I have seen this year.

The lyric is a dope little place too, nice bar, cafe etc.
