    ALL ITEMS ARE IN BRISTOL

Viewing/Personal collection is welcome as quite a few have found and have been able to get other parts they are looking for at the same time.

RALEIGH SIROCCO FRAME 1985 Reynolds 501
    Seat Tube (ctt): 57cm (22.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 55.5cm (21.75in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
    Wheel size: 700C
    Bottom bracket threads: English
    Frame Tubing: Reynolds 501
Brake drop with 700C wheel: 45mm
    Seatpost size: 27.0mm
This is a nicest Reynolds 501 frame I have ever seen - the build quality from Raleigh’s lightweight department looks as good as they used on the 531 frames - in a word its gorgeous. The paint is in excellent condition with only a few very small marks. A great basis for a conversion or a budget bike. £75 SOLD

    GIUPEK LOSA ROAD FRAME c1986
    Seat Tube (ctc): 51cm (20.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 53cm (21in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 46mm)
    Frame tubing: Columbus SL
    Bottom bracket threads: Italian
This Italian built frame has seen very few kilometres - judging the parts taken off it I would guess less than 50... The frame built by Losa (the same builder who built Pep-Magni frames) is very attractive and has lots of lovely details - see the lug and BB shell cutouts... Its built from Columbus SL tubing and Cinelli lugs. Guipek was a small bike shop who obviously commisioned Losa to build their frames. The paint and chrome are both in virtually perfect condition. An easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £195 SOLD

MOTOBECANE SPECIAL PRO ROAD FRAME c1983
    Seat Tube (ctc): 59cm (23.25in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 59cm (23.25in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 48mm)
    Frame tubing: Columbus SL
    Seatpost size: 26.8mm
Motobecane frames were ridden in the 1970s to a Tour De France win and their Team was one of the top continental pro road teams. This frame, the European equivalent of the Team Pro sold in the USA is built from Columbus SL tubing and dates from around 1977. Its in absolutely gorgeous condition with only a very few very minor marks to the paint. An easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £175

    FRED BAKER ROAD FRAME c1980
Seat Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm ctt)
    Top Tube (ctc): 22.5in (57cm)
    Rear dropout width: 125mm
Front Brake drop with 700C wheel: 50mm
    Wheel size: 700C
    Frame tubing: Reynolds 531
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is a rather nice Fred Baker road frame (Fred Baker is a Bristol cycle shop) dating from around 1980. The tubing decal suggests that it is built from Reynolds 531 plain gauge tubing - however the 27.2mm seatpost size and its weight suggests that the tubes are almost certainly double butted 531. The paint is in very good condition. An very easy basis for a conversion. £69 SOLD

    HOLDSWORTH ROAD FRAME Reynolds 531
    Seat Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
    Rear dropout width: 124mm
    Wheel size: 27in or 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 66mm
This is an early 1980s Holdsworth road frame built from Reynolds 531 double butted tubing. The paint is in very useable condition but a previous owner has touched marks up with a non matching paint colour - this could easily be improved upon. With horizontal dropouts it will be an easy fixed or singlespeed conversion. £89 SOLD

CARLTON COURETTE MIXTE FRAME 1982 Reynolds 531 tubing
    Seat Tube (ctt): 52cm (20.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
    Rear dropout width: 120mm
    Wheel size: 27in/700C
    Brake drop with sprints/700C: 57mm
Quality mixte frames are few and far between – this frame was built by Raleigh’s Lightweight division in 1982 using Reynolds 531 for the main tubes. Its nicely made and has been generally very nicely powder coated. Fitted with with decals it will look really quite stunning. £49 SOLD

RALEIGH SPECIAL PRODUCTS ROAD FRAME 1995
    Seat Tube (ctt): 61cm (24in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 60cm (23.5in)
    Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C (brake drop 45mm)
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
    Frame tubing: Reynolds Optima
This is a very nice road frame built at Raleigh Special Products in 1995 almost certainly from what Raleigh called Reynolds Optima tubing - this was an excellent quality double butted chrome moly tubing suitable for Tig welding. These frames ride really rather well and are superb value - this one does not seem to have had much use. Horizontal dropouts makes it an easy conversion if required. £85

VENOM ROAD FRAME c1994 Reynolds 531C
    Seat Tube (ctt): 57cm (22.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
    Rear dropout width: 130mm
    Wheel size: 700C
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Brake drop with 700C wheels: 45mm
This is a nicely made road frame from the first half of the 1990s built from Reynolds 531C tubing. The paint is a bit scruffy but built up a lot of the smaller marks won’t be obvious. And with longish horizontal dropouts would make a really easy conversion to singlespeed or fixed. £75

    CLAUD BUTLER ALLROUNDER 1951
    Seat Tube (ctt): 60cm (23.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 57.5cm (22.75in)
    Rear dropout width: 114mm
Wheel size: 27in or 700C (brake drop with 700C 57mm)
    Seatpost size: 26.6mm
    Frame tubing: Reynolds 531
A rather beautiful Claud Butler road frame from 1951 built with the beautiful Avant Coureur/Allrounder bilaiminated lugs. The paint is is not bad condition but the clear lacquar has gone a bit cloudy - this can be removed quite easily and then the paintwork can be cleaned up much better. It could be used as a conversion really rather easily... £145

  • That Fred Baker is a nice piece of Bristol history, I didn't know they used to make frames!

I am not sure that they did...Like Youngs of Lewisham they bought in frames and badged them accordingly....but this is anecdotal evidence and i could be wrong on Fred Baker.

  • i'll take the holdsworth off your hands if its still available. i should be able to paypal you the money this evening, if that's good for you. pm me with your details if you're up for it.

  • RALEIGH SPECIAL PRODUCTS ROAD FRAME 1995

That's interesting, it's amazing that Fred Baker haven't changed their emblem in over 30 years! Not my favourite bike shop TBH, although it's like a tardis inside!

My parents both had custom made Overburys MTB's which really are Bristol history. The Overburys shop is looking a bit sorry for itself if i remember correctly!

My ex wife was a student at the now defunct Bath Academy of Art in Corsham and i always angled to visit Fred Baker's shop but never quite made it...so it is nice to see a frame with his name [even if *he *did not make it]is good to see....as a one from Leytonstone, my loyalty is to HR Morris and Frank Lipscome both of Walthamstow.

Overbury's were well known in the 1980s but have disappeared from the radar since and most definetly are part of recent Bristol cycle history.

  • the carlton is mine, yeah!

  • dibs on raleigh sirocco.
