boringly enough, i used to ride around the source of the river Lea at Leagrave whilst working up there,
then recently rode the London end on the Sustrans route,
you would be happy pissing into either end.........

That technique must have some merit even today (not that I think many people would be prepared to go to the effort)!

I doubt it. This is a country that has no heavy machinery, let alone decent healthcare or water supplies. Most of the reporters out there are getting about by motorcycle...

what exactly are you sick of? it seems understandable that any standing land mark would be of interest to a photographer in that situation.
