  • My comment on the half-link chain was purely from experience and not at all data-backed.

    They do seem to exhibit some initial stretch but there are way, way too many variables, most notably the axles sliding in the drop-outs. On the other hand, the stretch has been noticed by almost every-one that has used them.

    It does, however, seem almost logical that a half-link can and would "straighten" at the bend in the plate but wether or not a human can exhibit such force is just guess-work without the proper machines.

    When it comes down to it, they aren't really worth the grief (broken chain tools) and have no real benefits other than being gentler on smaller sprockets but even that is debatable.

    Just use a fucking z510 and be done with it.
