Aren't they a carbon rim with a bonded alloy braking surface though? It'd be difficult to get a polished silver finish out of carbon. :-)
It's an alloy rim that's machined/extruded to completely unsafe thinness and then has the carbon layer bonded to it. CL = carbon laminate.
