Thats what I use and get on with them fine, the float still has a bit of spring in it so they still try to centre your foot which if there set up right its fine. If I was getting road pedals for the first time now I would maybe get speedplay as they have totally free float and a a really low stack height which I kind of care about as I'm really tall.
Not tried any other road pedals so not much to compare them to apart from shimano mtb pedals, well and onza ones but we don't want to remember them!
Having road pedals and shoes is great though especially on long rides when the support and stiffer soles are a lot comfier, not so good when you put them on and realize you've forgotten something upstairs so need to take them off to get up the stairs.
