I got one in the head yesterday (from a lifted ball, from a joint)... not too painful, but the very act could have sent the mallet towards my eyes etc.
It was dangerous.
I think for this tourney, this rule is a good one!
I don't know if this necessarily applies to the circumstances of this tourney, but I have felt for a long time that any lob that lifts the ball over top-tube height encourages players to start slashing their mallets in a dangerous way.

Maybe not a discussion for here, but we either
a. ban lobs over top-tube height
or
b. ban mallets above top-tube height
b. might be the better option.
