clive, you need a break. In various ways.
I've just remembered about a friend of mine in Glasgow who had a similar wound to you: he had a hole an inch deep in his lower back that required numerous operations, the hole had to be packed with dressing & reapplied daily; it was quite horrible and also quite worryingly close to his spine. It dragged on for ages - maybe years - until it finally healed fully.
All this came from - an ingrowing hair. Seriously. It's just as ridiculous.
