  • Amid a fair amount of ifs buts and maybes (apparently the rails are a bit dodgy), I hear the organisers of the Good Friday meet have been saving up the shekels to land a big name racer. Consider me there! (Though wish I was racing now.)

  • so far they have Roberto Chiappa (had my photo taken with him on Staurday!) and Rob Hayles....

The final of the Rollapaluza National Series is immediately after the track racing in the Half Moon pub round the corner.....!

  • its been down in my diary since last week. prey for sunshine like today.

  • that's such a cool plan winston ... and at least it's not weather dependent!

the name I heard - admittedly after a fair number of drinks - was a bit more local than the ones mentioned taps nose

  • Good Friday will be epic...

  • Dulwichrider, you don't mean Rob aka RPM is taking to the curves??????

If he turns up I hope I can catch an autograph, he's dreamy.

    understood!

  • if its good weather i'm in there like swimwear.

  • fingers crossed for good weather!

  • Even if it's bad weather I'll be there to support HH and good Friday, at least I'll pick up some old bike bits...

  • Digger knows the score... :]

  • well it's just not fun racing (or waiting around to race in centre) in below 10 degrees weather on outdoor track... and then doing only one race before the event gets called off...

  • Last year the oldest guy in my dads club (Tom Fish,95) was saying to us "do you think it'll stop raining", I was thinking you probably know better than the rest of us having seen more of it, about three thirty he said I'm giving up and I think I'll be lazy and get the train to Epsom (he doesn't live in Epsom by a distance) so I watched him set off on quite a recent high spec Cannondale to Clapham Junction. I hope I'm that lazy at 95.
I remember Kate's dad, when her mother was away, telling her he felt too lazy to cook so he'd cycled to and from Hereford for dinner (40 mile round trip) I think he'd have been around eighty at this point.

So, what I think I'm saying is HTFU!

  • fingers crossed for good weather!

You can say that again, Yasu. I keep having nightmares about terrible, terrible wind!

(and I don't mean the human kind)

  • RPM - what's the event like at HH on Good Friday? Sounds like a laugh. Is it bike jumble, watch the racing, beers etc?

I tried looking on the Herne Hill site, but couldn't find an awful lot.

    Thanks.

  • Well, Good Friday isn't run by the velodrome, it's run by Bristow Events
But yes, bike jumble, beer tent, lots of spectators, guest pro riders, sunshine & fun!

  • Thank you. It looks ace. I'm definitely there if it's not snowing. Can you buy tickets 'on the door'?

  • Yes you can, show up on your finest steed and make yourself known... It's a blast... And cheers for the lockring BTW... ;]

  • Cool! No worries on that. Hopefully see you again once I have less work, I will try and come to Souths.

  • Will this be starting at 10.30am again?

  • Good Friday will be epic...

    this

  • The promoter gave me the lowdown on whose riding today, keeping schtum for now, more than a few of my heros though....it's gonna be good.

  • Hmm, I saw Graham today but didn't get a chance to chat. I demand you tell me who it is! private like, no blabbing.

  • If I buy the tix online- do I get them in the post or is it a print out type dealio?

  • Even better this year , there is an Ordinary , ie penny farthings , race.

Almost as exciting as the paced races.
