It usually comes in 8' x 4' sheets, so you might find 2m x 2m difficult to find.

well i can always cut it to size so as long as it's big enough..

I think what was meant was that as it comes in 8'x4's (2.4m x 1.2m) the biggest square bit you'll get is 1.2m x 1.2m...
Some timber yards keep 3.0 x 1.5.
Jewsons or Travis Perkins will (obviously) be able to give you what you want if no-one has any spare for you. -

2.4x1.2 will be OK, i can always just screw them together side by side.
i was just wondering if anyone had any scrap bits before I went out and bought some or looked in some skips.

Hi there,
some chippy advice from a man still covered in wood dust:
don't use MDF - although it paints up nicely screws and nails do not stay fixed for long because of the fibrous nature of the board, use Plywood.
Bit of 18mm 8x4 (1220 X 2440mm) builders merchant cheap as chips or any building site - they use it for everything.
Have a happy tool board : )DS

oh, thanks for the advice Doc. 18mm is fine as i don't really want to go drilling hundreds of screws into my wall :) i will ask around a few building sites this weekend and see if they have any going spare.

There's a bloke in Hackney Wick cuts it to size for artists and the like. Cheap and he delivers. My girlfriend makes mosaics, and he supplies the MDF.

That's pretty good - If you take off the delivery cost his prices aren't too stupid - you could always ask him if he's got any far-eastern ply in stock, though it'll be more money.

B&Q do small sized bits of board too 3' x 2' but it is of course expesive compared to a full sized sheet.
