  • ^^ nice, aesthetically it works with that saddle i think.

  • they look like they should fold up like an accordian, or better yet like one of those cartoon boxing glove contraptions. but they dont, and for that reason i am out

  • Got my hands on the first Moulton Group meeting, it was passed to me in secret.

  • Bragging rights; I met Alex Moulton.

I camped on his estate. He was a fofa called Peter Knottley who penned articles about cycle touring and wrote some books on the topic. Me myself I and a couple of chums went cycle camping with Peter, destination Moutlon's place somewhere near Bath/Bristol I forget exactly where. Ever such a nice chap. We had G'n'T in his "house", got to ride his own Mk1 Moulton and he talked about what became the modern space frame design, but wouldn't let us see anything as it was still in R&D stage. So there, you can gasp in amazement and buy me a cappuccino.

ps some other bloke turned up on a trike. I had a go, they are impossible.

Oh no, you just have to know how to LEAN. ;)

"A NEW ONE TODAY IS £9000 AND A 12 MONTH WAIT"

    are they really that much?

    well, not quite.

    New Series, Stainless (Seperable) £8500
New Series SPEED , Stainless (Fixed) £9500

TBH the Moulton Speed is possibly more interesting at £7500.

The New Series Double Pylon is 14.5k.
Peter Gabriel + Sir Norman Foster are owners - PG rides it on stage in his shows.
I do know 'normal' owners as well.

These are the 'top end' bikes... there are happily many Moultons now sub £2k..

  • I had a nice stainless GT (1991) stolen in Hackney at the weekend; painted bits are black with green brooks saddle and handlebar tape (on mosquito bars). Not sure I can post a pic yet being new but will try... If anyone sees something like this I would be hugely grateful to hear from you!
(Meantime, having fun with me fixed wheel MK3...)

    ha ha reppd!

I bet that was a riot.......
    .......
    .....

  • While picking up some parts a few years ago, I drove my mini through the Hydrolastic "testing gaps" in the drive that leads you down to the workshops. A pleasure!

  • well I have a midi and an attacked moulton F.

Currently trying to sell the midi so I can afford to refurb the F and get it back on the road.

  • Thanks, will do. (= third posting)...

  • Newly painted and ready to be fixed now...

  • @glowboy what size chainring will you be using?

  • Is this social group for virgins and other equally dysfunctional souls?

  • I am going with a 53... and a 17 at the rear.
    .

  • i only asked because i wanted to do the same but would need a 59/60 chainring to get a decent gear.
wont 53 17 be too spinny?

now this IS a great forum group buy- everyone has a moulton fixed and we all go on a ride to a specific small pub....

    anyone in?

  • 10 quid each

  • Is this social group for virgins and other equally dysfunctional souls?

No, but we'll make an exception just for you.

    anyone in?

They are all Minis and Midis (A mini without front suspension) which are 7/8ths full size, and too tiny for anyone over 5ft 3 to ride.
The Triang is a childs size.

  • so, snowy and spags are sorted

i wasn't suggesting that they'd be in any way practical....
and they've got those rear racks- one extra forumer on the back (not hippy)
