Recommend me some pedals for use with clips & straps

If you can find a nice pair of original Suntour Superbe Pro track pedals, the bearings in those are smooth and indestructable. Mine must be 30 years old and they still run like new.
Plus the holes for toeclips are threaded so you don't need the little nuts and washers. I don't know if that is commonplace but my Sylvans didn't have that feature.
