Seen the spokes-to-hold-mallet-head-on but not caps.
Whats the deal?

I think mikey might have done this first... but this is gabes.

...you put a pilot in to start with slightly smaller than the spoke gauge... and then you can bend the spoke into -----u--- and use this as a handle to screw the spoke into the side of the tubing and the cap, then cut off the excess. Its been the best way so far.

Gabes noticed that you need more spokes located at the top half of the tubing as the point of impact with the ball is in the upper half.
