  • After I decided to UTFS, I found a thread on exactly this topic but dating from way back in 2008 and without many replies.
I'm interested to hear what other people are running, as I'm sure many of you are too, so here is a thread to post your polo gear.

    33/20 Fixed

  • 35/22 freewheel

  • currently 34/22

    soon 28/18 or 28/19

  • 30/19

  • 39/20

  • 26/18 - i had to go this low after switching from fixed/spd to freewheel/flats.

  • 35/22 for me
freewheel for 1 day now, judgment still out

26/18 - i had to go this low after switching from fixed/spd to freewheel/flats.

    ??

  • 32/18
    fixed

  • 36 x 20 Freewheel

got a 22 WI on order though

  • 42x23 fixed
But I never play, so it's a moot point...

  • 32x20 freewheel

  • 22/16 freewheel

  • 32:21 freewheel (26")

  • 30 x 19 freewheel

  • 36:22 fixed

  • 32/19 freewheel

  • 36/24 freewheel..

can somebody clever (#gabes) list these and use the chain ring as the default. so you list the biggest chainging downwards?

so we can see them all in one frame...

  • 32/20 freewheel.

    As of tomorrow.

  • What cranks are you using emmet?

  • 34x19

Alright, there you go. I used forum names as I don't know who any of you guys are (snoops - mark or rupert??).
Format it, change names, correct it, do whatever you want.

  • 22/16 !
I used to have 24/16 and that felt like a circus gearing already

    nice job tom

  • I'm surprised so many people play freewheel instead of fixed. Up in Cambridge we only have about 4 or 5 freewheel players compared to maybe 20 fixed.

  • i'm still experimenting, but fixed/spd felt like i could mash more power down and accelerate okay on a relatively hard gear. now i have flexy shoes and no ability to pull-up i need a really spinny gear to get going. also - in my (limited) experience, if you can get ahead of someone from a standstill, you can control the pace of the rest of the rush to get the ball by blocking their route, no?

  • i am rupert

    and i am freewheel

you have to be either stupid or stubborn to ride fixed.
