  • It was on Southampton Street,

Two cable locks - Not the best to be honest. It was between midnight and 8 this am. Haven't got any pics :(

Is Brick Lane Market the place to try ?

Well hopefully next time you learn from your "mistake", cable locks can be cut in seconds with basic bolt cutters.

    what you need is http://www.parker-international.co.uk/6772/Kryptonite-New-York-Fahgettaboudit-Mini-Lock.html

Brick lane is worth a look, sunday morning.

edit: don't meen to sound like its your fault the bike got nicked, its just that in london its almost inevitable it was going to get nicked when you locked it up with cable locks.

  • So True!

Annoying thing is I have an Abus chain lock but left it at home yesterday!

Oh well, These things happen unfortunately, be good to get it back as it was my first fixie and really enjoyed riding it. Any suggestions for a replacement ?

  • Any suggestions for a replacement ?

    See Re-cycled's link above.
Maybe using your Abus chain for your front wheel.
(edit: just realised you might mean replacement bike, in that case don't just get the fahg mini, your commute will suck)

  • Yeah meant Bike!

  • If you've got something else to get around on, maybe build another fixed up? Doesn't take as long as you'd think once you start sourcing the parts, you end up with a cheaper (and probably better) bike, and you know it inside-out.

Did you leave it locked up over night?
You didnt happen to lock it up outside the Foundry this week aswell?

  • Hi Pique,

Yeah left it locked up there last night , Wasn't mine at the Foundry.

Makes me mad to think that its probably changed hands for the sake of a wrap.
    Wan@ers !

  • @ 86Vivalo

    Get new mates

But sorry to hear about bike, will look out

  • what's the etiquette for telling people to lock their bikes up differently?

I was at the macbeth last night, where i lost a whole lot of bike a couple of weeks ago. loads of rides were out front, including one nice one with only a minievo through the frame. wheels only secured with track nuts.

i contemplated looked for groups of people in vans to tell them it was dodge, but instead i just sat by the window all night keeping an eye on it.

    patronising or safe bikes??

  • ^ When you down there next? I'll remember to leave my heavy Fahg chain at home. :)

  • Oh, and nice gesture on keeping an eye out for other peeps' stuff. Would be nice if others did the same!

    Will keep em peeled.
I remember thinking that one on the foundry fence looked ripe for the picking.
I had a bike pinched over the summer so am not being patronising when i say i think its best not to leave a bike over night anywhere.

  • Unfortunately I think I have learnt the Hard way !

Just dont want to use the fuck@ing Underground - Start looking for a new one now.

    Cheers All

  • Abus Granit Futura on test, is not a lock to put faith in. You're lucky you got your bike back.

I use this for my front wheel and downtube, whilst the fag mini takes the back wheel and seat stays + abus cable for saddle. I think its a pretty good combo, as my krypto mini evo doesn't fit the front wheel/downtube of my mudgaurd bike.

well i say all night. that was until the two leads from twilight arrived. watching east london's finest fawning over r patz (POC) was pretty entertaining.

  • Yo,
reporting another stolen bike I'm afraid…
this time a good friend Jan, was locked up with a Evo Mini D. took the lock too.

Has you friend got his bike back?

I spotted this bike I think this evening around 6.. I was on a bus on Liverpool street. saw the rider go inside. I took a phone pic.

  • essbee, delete your post, but send the picture to TBTRN, with description of where and what time and day that was taken.

this way they can 'camp' out and wait for the bike to appear again if the theft/idiot still using the same place.

  • to be honest they may as well just hand their bike over to the first person they see, they obviously don't want it.

  • i has used my incredible skillz to crop and chop, zoom and invert. fucking rubbish innit, still can't tell what bike it is

theft aren't that stupid, they'll know it's a decent bicycle when if it held together for the first 300 metres.

  • I'm going to be honest, that post confused me. Are you saying only decent bikes hold together after 300 meters? I meant that whoever left the bike there, thief or owner, obviously doesn't want to keep the bike if they just leave it like that. A thief won't not steal something because it's already been stolen.

puts on CSI glasses, listens to The Who

    Can you enhance that?

  • That upside down pic is soooo that Volume cutter although the steerer tube seems 'deeper' but that's probably the light. Fork, seat, rear wheel, geometry all match up for me. Hope it gets back home and props to the sharp eyed snapper.

  • I can't believe someone would go to a barber leaving their* bike like that outside.

    *sic

  • Has anyone here ever been to a barber?
"Just dump your bike outside everyone we'll" Was the first thing i heard when going into a barber.

That thing is getting alot of spots, cant believe it hasn't been reclaimed yet.
And the person who has it now probably doesn't know its stolen since they're riding around a very distinctive bike all willy nilly without changing a single detail on it.
