The new one is much better, better made and everything appear to be solid;
the weight is actually pretty reasonable, it's slightly heavier than the same rims with track hubs, but still obviously lighter than your deep v-section rims.
and because it's on the centre of the wheel, you won't notice the weight when you're riding.
