The problem with everyone cycling is that there are more numpty cyclists getting in your way ... rather be dodging cars, buses and lorries ... much safer.
The town centre is absolutely packed with buses, but they seem to be very tolerant of cyclists. Most cyclists are the "go slow in the gutter" type so it's easy to sit out in the flow of traffic and pass without them getting in the way. I have seen some dodgy moves by people on bikes though, so will keep alert!I'd rather be hit by a numpty cyclist than a numpty bus driver though!

Bus Drivers don't hit you because they know WTF they are doing.

All of them? Even the ones I see mounting pavements when going around corners?

Lucas, I was trying to say that someone who doesn't really know what they are doing when they are on a bike is less dangerous than someone who doesn't know what they are doing when driving a bus.
But the bus drivers in Oxford do seem to be pretty good in general. -

fucking awesome night at rolla last night, 36 guys turned out, BFG all over it with loads of best placings, my upper right chest has a strange feeling in it now, maybe because I got all the way through to final---raced a gargantuan 26 year old BMX racer, lost but didnt care as I'd only expected to go and do some qualifiers.
ha! you guys who didnt come seriously missed out, Pajamas on the decks, even spinning Steely Dan, and ace funky music all night long, bournemouths Sarah winning it for the girls final too, fantastic night cant wait for next one,
big up Warren for invite!
will post results after. -

cool Mark, nice pics, I was going to join BFG but Wozzas hokey ning system run by dwarfs wont accept the words Im typing so another day maybe, youre on about London B.right.on anyway, dont bother going to London, for the hassle of then getting somewhere after, just come on this 70 miler, the nodders do the shorter ones, all good on the tea and cakes in village halls, old skool roadies and the odd fixer, and its round the corner starting in Blandford ,oh, and its the 2nd biggest after B.right.on .........

Are you signed up for that ride J? I'm tempted...
-
• #762
in all the way mate, did it in about 3 and a half last time, you can have a great run, theres a good amount of riders and its marshalled so you can just ride without navigating, theres a guy from bmth who Up From Dorset (Gordon) knows, he did it fixed last year, then went off to ride some crazy pan African two weeker on same bike, so you get a few dudes on it too.
-
• #763
Yeah done that ride a few times before I reckon I'm a nodder these days so probably do the short route. I will put up a link on bfg site .

Might have to put my name down for that one. 3.5 hours is pretty fast for 66 miles, it took me 2 hours to do 30 this morning, although that did include a stop to help the lady who had rolled her car into a ditch!
What's the route like?
-
• #765

Well Mr MF, I'm assuming the 'starts in Blandford' is a deliberate dig. It starts in WIMBORNE, which as we all know is the center of the known universe. But hey, it's all a barren wilderness north of gravel hill isn't it?
Anyway, the bhf is a fave. Good ride, well organised and the route gets more challenging the further you go. Annoyingly, there's been a friend of mine posted at the point where the 50 mile/ 66 mile route splits for the last few years, meaning that i've had to take the extra long route with its extra stonkingly big hills to avoid massive loss of face.
Its definately doable on fixed, though having definately done it I will definately be taking my retro race bike this year.
Look forward to seeing y'all. -

Yeah fixed for Wimborne/whatever and I think geared for New Forest.

Sounds like a plan. New Forest has timing chips and everything so it's just like being in the TdF!

Hello Bournemouth-y folk.
I have to come your way soon to spend the night in V club for work research purposes. Anyone know what it's like - rough as? (To be fair, it was there or a dodgy club in Southend, so the choice was limited).
Enter Londons finest Rolla here, come on people never complain theres fuck all to do around here :-
