  • You can carry all my crap too yeh?

    Thanks!

  • Beer will take priority over things such as.

    • Puncture Repair Kit
    • Tyre Levers
    • Any sort of maintenence tools.

So you might have a hard time fitting it in, but I might be able to find some room ...

  • Beers are round so you will have loads of space between the bottles/cans for tyre levers and the like to be poked into. Cheers for offering to carry everything for us, most generous!

  • I will be buying square cans.

  • *Kegs

  • Kegs/Cans ... all goes down the same way.

  • Just signed up for the Dash innit

  • just so you know fellas, cycle speedway is now starting sundays in he morning for training from now on if you fancy something brutal and fun. poole cycle speedway if youre googling it,down at baiter park.

  • latest on the cycle track at Slades Farm.
the village green campaigners lost their attempt to get the field kept as a dog park.
work will begin soon on a surfaced track, with a banking of around 33 degrees at the ends, inside that there will be a flat track for training/coaching use for groups.
The place is to be open access, not sure how it is going to be managed but a major victory for British Cycling, and Poole/ Bournemouth area.
and us, cos we can race each other for kicks whenever we want. I will kick your ass Tom

  • Finally some (good) news on the track! I was half expecting it not to happen...

Nice day today, went for a nice fast paced 40-45mile spin around Ringwood/Hurn/Matchams.

Also, to the guy with the Charge plug in Pedals Cycle Centre. It's all well and good buying some nice beefy DMR pedals for your bike, but get some fuckin' foot retention. You're pushing around 100GI...

  • punters mate.........

  • Excellent news on slades farm ... which is nice a close to my new residence. Will have something else to do in the evenings other than booze and ask out ukranian bar maids drunkenly.

Awesome news, being open access will hopefully get more people into it socially, and might trickle up into "proper" racing. Also makes it a bit less intimidating for people going along their first time to a track.

    You're pushing around 100GI...
Training for the individual persuit, innit!

... booze and ukranian bar maids
    Your two favourite things!

  • there's also a skate park at slades farm and, a few years back there were the 'slades farm locals' (SFL) who were APPARENTLY well hard and would all beat you up if you messed with them. Dunno the truth in this matter cos my source material was through sixteen year old friends of friends of people who went to see a band who's guitarist was allegedly a slades local.
Maybe there's a chance to ressurect this myth and the 'new' sfl will work over any new comers to the track. Maybe :)

  • I think you need to get down there as soon as it opens, camp out, drink cider, do skidz all over the place and metaphorically piss all over it.

  • Slades Farm is definitely on the rough side. It is right in the middle of a poor estate. The locals have been a problem since the 80's when I used to go there. I almost got knocked out by one of them when I was 13 as he just came up to me and punched me in the head (I wasn't expecting that!)

Why are skateparks usually put in the roughest areas, where they just get taken over by groups of people who are not remotely interested in skateparks I wonder?

  • the skateparks in this conurbation are largely hassle free and just full of 'the kids' in my experience they 'police' themselves, the 'yoof' service are often to be found at the Poole ones, giving out condoms etc etc which helps.
Having said that we cant be sure what will happen at slades yet,
whats more scary than kids/vandalism is that when the so called 'concerned' (dog walkers) who put up vocal and articulate opposition to changes sometimes do mad stuff- like digging up footpaths and so on. The rights of Way officer for Poole Borough who sits next to me in the office comes out with some unbelievable (true)stories about n.i.m.b.y.s

  • who was that guy I DAS'd today in Boscombe, grey fixed..............

The problem with everyone cycling is that there are more numpty cyclists getting in your way ... rather be dodging cars, buses and lorries ... much safer.
