Bad luck Ed and Trip. My comiserations.
Shared halls are really, really bad for this, happened all the bloody time when i live in flats. Locks for all places I reckon, I know some people on this forum lock up even when inside their own gaff.

I once had my door left wide open by a stupid lodger, luckily no bikes stolen, i even always make a point of shutting the curtain in the front room with my bike in it, so that thieves wont catch a glimpse and try breaking in.

I used to work on Gray's Inn Road, 200. A colleague that was unable to use the underground carpark one day, had his bike nicked within an hour of locking it up to a bike rack outside the office. Little shits.

I know what you mean, we been here for 2 years, and it has always been fine, especially with the landlord and the other neighbour (just us three) are also vigilant on security.
or so I though, until the new family moved in.
