It's dark enough to dance like nobody is watching.
Ooh, that would be perfect for me (and for others).

Oh yeah, Plastic People. I never managed to get down there more than once or twice when they first moved there, I used to go a lot when they were at Oxford Street though. It was OK. I know the system was rated at Curtain Road. I reckon the chances are that the real reason behind this action is complaints from people who bought flats there for one mirrion dorras thinking that the clubs really ought to go, and they're picking on the one decent small one cos the bigger venues have too much muscle behind them. Not that I know much about it.
+1 to what teenslain said. Close it, move on. Start somewhere else. Nothing is forever. Shoreditch is fucking horrible at night.

PP is one of -if not - the only venue that you can go to and not see any trouble what so ever. No obvious piss heads glassing each other or coke heads talking all over each other. It's dark enough to dance like nobody is watching. No mirrors or neon lights in sight.
Many of you talk about liking the music covered@Bright Times® but how many venues are run in this 'creative' area by owners/managers that are willing to play this type of music on a Saturday night?
Piss poor form to attempt to close it down. How many end up in A&E after a night here compared to others? Shoreditch House has had more trouble FFS. Best bet for PP is go as a private members club. It would be a great way stoke up interest in it again.
This
Too true. The only thing I remember having to deal with down there is the bass : )

I don't like the idea of fish in a nightclub

Foxtons are probably behind it, so they can get more money for the stainless steel wank pads they're renting 'round there, the fucking massive war criminals.

@ m.f: Tony hayter went to Stantonbury with my brother! He started out in business renting out Space Invaders machines and made a few bob when he was a teenager.
I think he defended himself very well in that interview.
Tonys still about and still a laugh especially when pissed!

years ago I put on an event for deaf and hearing people at PP
Ade gave us the venue for free and was instrumental in getting the likes of phil asher and patrick forge to come and play for nothing
i love the venue, the sound and lack of lights
i have many many fond memories - theo p, FK, C2, Co-op after it moved from velvet rooms, ffwd, basic channel
i am also aware of projects which have been directly inspired by events that take place there, the voices collective started there as a result of meeting on the dancefloor and i think i know of a couple of kids whose parents met at the club
for some people PP has been a signficant venue in their lives, for others it means nothing, much like the ICA or anything else
i for one hope it does not close...

Anyone noticed that "they" are trying to shut down Ministry of Sound too?

They've got more reason to shut that place down after all the stabbings and shootings over the last couple of years

The Guardian article mentions a new-build right next to it. Obviously the MoS has filed an objection.

One of my favorite things about the place! Also, cycling back down south after with no traffic is ace. Must be saved.
