  • "With one in five cyclists ignoring the laws of the road, former Top Gear presenter Adrian Simpson asks how they are inconveniencing other road users. Gardener Joe Swift joins Londoners who have adopted a primitive lifestyle"

    Sounds like fun!
They were filming at the last critical mass so if you were there you might get on telly!

Did a search for "Adrian Simpson" & "BBC" but nothing came up so sorry if OLD!

  • so far, no statistics...

  • here it comes: 1 in 5 flout the law. Wonder how that compares to cars?

  • remember: cycling=stabbing

  • Mini Cooper knows that spot well ;p

I like it when the Sgt said they have canvassed residents, I think residents are more worried about dog shit in Holland Park then cyclists RLJ

  • well, that was bollocks
that woman with her child who was hit by the cyclist, i wonder how much she claimed for?

  • I thought it was a pretty balanced piece although the cyclist that crossed the road "with no regard to his safety" was clearly brain dead and lazy commentary as the cyclist was clearly looking very carefully at the traffic.

What I dread is more regulation and bike licensing...

  • What a load of wank. Someone needs to wallride the face of the person that wrote that awful bit of journalism.

£18 as she dented her handlebar on the child's head......

  • What I dread is more regulation and bike licensing...

+1 The idea of helmet compulsion, licensing e.t.c fill me with dread.

  • I enjoyed the bit saying "dangerous cycling sometimes has serious consequences"
Then having the VT with the woman saying her child got hit then cried a bit...
I was waiting for the 'serious' part of her plight, where the child was brain damaged or something, but no the best example they could come up with for a 'serious' consequence was a child that cried 'all the way up the road'...

  • no and she had 'a fair bit o blood, its was gushing like almost'

  • I thought it was a pretty balanced piece...
was just about to say the same.

  • These guys 'houses' are pretty cool actually.

  • Very balanced, without a mention of statistics on how many pedestrians cyclists kill per year compared to the number of motor vehicle related fatalities....
Yet the repeated mention of how much of a menace to pedestrians cyclists pose.

No mention of the fact the reason many cyclists RLJ is to get away from the traffic behind them quickly and safely to avoid being in the clusterfuck race of motorcars that happen when the lights turn green.

  • Gadget Show is now on.

  • Watch from 39 to 42 seconds in this piece and tell me what is wrong with it:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/london/hi/people_and_places/newsid_8528000/8528353.stm

I don't have any sound on this machine but it stikes that the "Palletline" truck blasting through the red light is more of a threat than some fluoro-nodder.

    Is that mentioned?

That was me... didn't go as well as planned. Hard not to swear at the righteous pot stirring host.

Maybe the fluoro-nodder should have bought that up when he got stopped.

  • Wasn't the same nodder, the second guy had a pannier.

  • They all look the same anyway.

were there any forumers shown Bednarz?

  • What did they say to balance the article out? I just found myself getting annoyed when I watched it. Maybe I missed the balanced bit when I was busy saying "twat" at the tv. I'm not sure what it was trying to achieve other than to rile the public and give cyclists a worse name.
