don't go there. metal mallet heads have been vitoed in most tournament rules.
fibreglass has been tested unsuccessfully as a shaft also.
if you want to try something, try and manufacture a very strong aluminium shaft, and a machined head from hdpe that is cut out optimally and incorporates a cap on one end.
that would be awesome.
