  • Not my normal line in frames but I have a selection of cheap British frames available ranging from classic lightweights mainly in 531. All would benefit from new paint but are useable as is. Current state ranges from tatty original to "repainted with leftover Dulux by drunk madman wielding bog brush". All straight and dent free as far as I can tell. Sold as seen! All seat pins move, those left in are odd sizes you might want to use as is. All are round about 120mm rear spacing unless otherwise stated and mostly horizontal dropouts with minimal braze-ons so ideal starter fixed/ss conversions.
Available for viewing/collection from SW11 or SE1 Waterloo, will ship anywhere at cost. Cash on collection or PayPal gift if posting. Dibs only if you are buying and have the dosh, I won't hold items for weeks while you sell body parts (or your body) to raise the money.
All sizes are measured centre to centre. Wheels shown are 700s, 28c rear 23c front to give an idea of clearances.

    1) Geoffrey Butler lightweight for 700 wheels, VERY tight clearance on rear (the 28c won't turn). Single gear lever boss. 531 tubing, cast fork crown, semi-vertical Campag drop-outs so can be fixed with careful choice of gear. Good quality frame. 54.5cm x 56cm, 27.2mm seat post. Campag headset included. Was £75, now £70 **SOLD**

    2) Unknown maker, classy 531 frameset with nice lugs and wraparound seat stays. Again, tight clearance with 700s, horizontal Campag dropouts, flat crown fork. Ideal conversion. 55cm x 56.5cm, 26.6mm seat post. £70 - **SOLD**

    3) Good quality frame with Campag semi-vertical dropouts, nice cast fork crown, reasonably tight clearance with 700s, eyes for mudguards F&R. 56.5cm x 56.5cm, 26.4mm seat post, £50/ now £45 **SOLD**

    4) Another very nice 531 frameset, originally for 27" wheels but reasonably tight clearance with 700s, eyes for mudguards F&R. Wraparound seat stays, nice pointed lugs, long Campag dropouts, ideal conversion. Original paint apart from top tube. 56cm x 56cm, 27.2mm seat post £55 - **SOLD**

    5) Good quality frame, full wrap seat stays, nice lugs, Campag dropouts. Painted a fetching shade of puke with a bog brush but useable nevertheless. Mudguard eyes F&R. 56cm x 57cm, 27.0mm seat post. £45 **SOLD**

  • Dibs on no 4. pm coming

  • Meant to say that the Campag headset is probably OK after a service, the rest probably serve only to stop the fork getting lost at the moment, but are included or can be removed free of charge as you choose.

  • Sorry undibs

  • no.2 is quite nice

  • Dibs number 2. Pm to follow.

  • That is a a nice tight frame for sure.

  • Butler looks nice but could you advise

  • OOPS!

...what has happened to the seatbolt? Presume it was an allen bolt - is the thread still the same? That's a hell of a bolt now!

    Thanks

    Dusty

  • GB is a bargain 531SL is pretty rare, some people on here would sell for twice the price.

  • @ DustyRumble - yes, not the original seat bolt, but the thread in the frame is fine, no idea why it has this but left it there since it's better than nothing and can be used as a guide for finding correct threaded socket head bolt. Was there more advice you were after?

  • @ chaliapin, yes, good point, forgot to mention the GB is 531 Special Lightweight (SL).

  • #2 now sold...

  • Thanks man. Good frame and a nice, hassle free buy.

  • Glad you like it ;-) All the best, H

  • Dibs on no 4 please, pm coming

  • Lovley stuff man...

  • dibs frame 5

  • It may not be obvious form the photos but the white on all the top tubes is just insulating tape with the sizes written on, put there by me! So underneath no better or worse than rest of bike... and a fiver off #3 since it's feeling neglected...

  • #4 now sold, so #1 and #3 left, #5 pending collection. Price drop on the GB (#1).

  • Pm Sent re the remaining two.
Live in SE1 so can collect tomorrow am if you're interested.

  • Errr, no PM forthcoming, but yes if you let me know tonight, frames currently in SW11 but I can retrieve them - awaiting actual PM!

  • Hi Hutch, nice meeting you this evening and v. happy with the frame, see you around for some advice and or tools at some point!

  • Likewise, and good luck with the build - cheers ;-)

  • #5 still available if interested at asking price
