@skunkworks, the worst possible thing you could have done in my opinion is have children without being ready and then end up divorced with them involved or staying in a relationship you were not happy in because of children. If you are happy enough that she has found someone else it sounds like you have made the right decisions. It's a very hard thing for anyone else to ever understand, parents and friends especially and it is often easier to run with what you think everyone will find acceptable rather than what you feel in your gut you should do, sounds like you have done the latter which is the braver choice.
