I hear you. I was going to put slate down but cutting it round radiator pipes and having to move the pedestal basin are things I cannot be bothered doing.
I think the main problem with vinyl is that it's usually pretending to be something else, like wood or tiles, and it looks cheap and shit. However we found there are some nice photographic print ones with rose petals, grass, pebbles and the like which might look good, and some cool geometric stripes which are funky and would go well. Just need to see some samples.
