Sorry if this is considered rude being my first post in (or indeed look at) this thread but, would any of you lot have any spare/finished/surplus to requirement wooden cigar boxes?
I've been reading about building 3 string cigar box guitars and i'd like to give it a go.

I think i've got some knocking about. The only thing is that they will probably be 5" cube rather than flat boxes.

went to a great one at the Dunhill rooms, they'd brought over an old giffer from Cuba who arrived with carrier bags of green leaves and was hand rolling them to order
a quality night…
That sounds great. I know they sometimes get a roller in at La Casa del Habano on Wardour but I've never been.
There are some famous rollers in the cigar world and people will pay loads of money for a custom roll.

The LFGSSSSSS.
Let's kick off the London Fixed Gear Single Speed Saturday Seegar Smoking Session.
There's been some interest but I want to see if we can set it up for this weekend. Last weekend Jamie and I had a cigar at the Thameside which has a nice outdoor space for smoking and bikes but might be a bit windier on the river than other locales.
Anyone up for kicking it off around 3pm for some cigars and drinks? Anyone know of a good location centralish, ideally with outdoor heaters and room for bikes?

Okay, I'll kick off.
Ledger House at West India Quay
Pros:
Massive outdoor smoking area and plenty of room for bikes
Umbrellas and heaters
Won't be busy because the normal crowd are just folks that work in Canary Wharf
Great selection of beers and drinks
Well-priced foodCons:
Not central
Is a Weatherspoons, but is nice on the weekends -

Approach Tavern on Approach Rd E2.

As I'm out of action for this evening I'm in for Sat.
I'd prefer somewhere close to the East Side (Canary Wharf is ok with me) -

I quite like the Canary Wharf idea.

Well, that's 3 votes...

Yeah, I'm in - I've been a little under-the-weather, but am most definitely on the mend.
Canary Wharf is ok (i'd really rather not, but that's just because I'm lazy), i'd rather something more Central like the place me and Dale went last Sat, but I will go with the crowd.
This is almost certainly out of the question, as it's probably a little too far South East, but:
The Sun and Doves - http://www.sunanddoves.co.uk/
The picture on the homepage is of a part of the back garden - under the corrugated roof, they have both heat lamps and burners, lovely place for a smoke in my opinion. Bike parking, front and back (2 Gardens), decent beer and food.
We could always meet Central and then head up somewhere else...

This is how I'm rolling on Saturday:

Really we should do a Cigar ride so we can test out the venues so we something set up for the summer
-
• #514
I like the idea of checking out different venues, but riding from one to another to smoke cigars might be a bit much. I think we should try rotating venues to find ones that work well for us. Ideally something central, but so far nobody seems to know of one.
Most likely the great places we'll go to in the pleasant summer months aren't the ones we'll be visiting now.
So should we do Ledger House in West India Quay this Saturday? I'd be willing to do the Sun and Doves next time.
Start around 2 to 3pm and go on till we have tongues of leather and are completely burnt out on smoking cigars.

- Crazy James (I have his Monte's, he'll show)

What time for kickoff? Jamie said he saw a forecast that looked nasty, but my weather apps show it to be a pretty clear day.
Edit: Balls, my app just updated with a higher chance later in the day. Still don't think it will be too bad and we'll be covered and have heaters once we're there. I think we should plan for starting by 2pm. Sound good?

-
• #518
I think he's in, but he hasn't confirmed. Just you and James have told me you're there for certain.

I'm going to set aside some cigars tonight. Looking forward to getting through a few different ones tomorrow. Anyone who enjoys cigars, drinks and shit talking misses it at their own peril.

Got my selection picked out. Looking forward to seeing you all.
It's pretty easy to find; The Ledger Building is at the end of the row of restaurants at West India Quay, same side as the DLR stop.
