• sounds like a lot of effort for something you can buy in a little plastic pot for about a quid in tesco

    C'mon man, it is one of the easiest & cheapest staple foods you can make. If you are a vegetarian humous is pretty damn indispensable. (I am not veggie though)

    The stuff in the shop is made from watery runny tinned chick peas, cheap oil and is generally quite dull.

    If you make it at home, you can use dry chick peas which are massively superior in both taste & nutrients. Plus you can use good olive oil & tahina, and put fun things in it.

    You can also make the other sorts of humous which more closely resemble a chick pea curry which you do not see in the shops.
