I've done this a couple of times...As kboy says, Skavsta is the airport to go for, about 90 miles to Motala and good roads all the way if you hire a car - not too bad price wise if you can split the cost. Haven't tried the bus option, but heard that trains are pretty difficult to sort out with a bike. I rode from skavsta to Motala last year - pretty straightforward on the back roads and just picked up a youth hostel on spec somewhere on route. May well do that again this year.
In Motala, the gym accommodation is ok for the night of the ride and the night after as long as you don't mid communal crashing out - no need to book in advance. If you have a tent, you can camp anywhere - people just set them up by the side of the road all over the place. Plus there are a few temporary campsites for the weekend. Fine if the weather's ok, maybe grim otherwise. If you want a hotel/hostel definitely book in advance - there's a couple of options I've stayed at in nearby Borensberg (let me know if you want contact details), a lot of people also stay in Vadstena.
