  • How can people who've lived in so many places even remember them all?

    Just a good memory.

When I was applying for work with the FCO I had to fill in a vetting form that listed all of my addresses for ten years. Having been somewhat nomadic for a while I had a lot of addresses to write down. One of the people overseeing the process commented that there were a lot of addresses on my application form and asked if I was sure that they were all accurate including postcodes. I just responded "I don't think you'll find any mistakes here". He then asked why I had moved house so often and I ran through the list giving a brief reason for my move. He just said "oh right, you know that all makes sense, thanks".

    Didn't get the job though.
