Not sure why they even bothered drilling the scissor fork as very few caliper brakes will reach. It can take a 50c tyre which means the rim is a fair distance from the brake caliper hole!
The better solution was AD990 mounts that I have seen on some forks, with the added advantage of being easier to route cable up through fork due to their BMX background.
One option would be to run a back brake maybe? (yes I realise they are not as effective as front)
