  • Yep, Mason's Road, Stratford Upon Avon. CV37 represent.

  • I dont know wether this is a re-post. But what about my own beloved Pashley Guv'nor? Ahh Pashley, what a classic British company. One factory and a bunch of people making quality products. Kinda reminds me of Brooks in a way.

Eustace, you really own a Pashley Guv'nor?

You've just GOT to bring it to one of our drinks!

I'll be honest, I find it a bit giggle-worthy, as will others I wager.

However I do also concede, that as shorter distance commuting bike, its classy, and is perfect for its design purpose.

  • why hasn't Woodrups been mentioned!?

    http://www.woodrupcycles.com/frames.html

  • someone mentioned that the woodrup giro are relabelled bob jackson, that all I know.

  • Hi All, Thanks for the overwhelming reponse. Gives me a lot to look at.

  • Wow look what I just found on Wilson's site.

    Their paintjobs are bonkers.

  • Rumour has it you have to pay Wilson's extra to get summat tasteful.

  • Thats pretty ace, shame that all the other wilsons are so decal'd up they look ridiculous

  • You all forgot Demon Frameworks and they're fixed gear specialists. Seriously nice frames. See them in Earl's Court in October:
    www.demonframeworks.com

  • someone mentioned that the woodrup giro are relabelled bob jackson, that all I know.

just to carlify, the reason why Woodrup are similar to Bob Jackson is that the framebuilder were taught by Bob Jackson before opening his own label - Woodrup.

  • Don't forget Dave Marsh GA2G! He used to work at Carlton and is still building custom frames...

    http://www.carltoncycles.com/index.htm

    http://www.universalcyclecentre.co.uk/

  • possibly worth giving the nod to the 14co/Lee Cooper/SuperTed corperation? From what i've seen and heard well built custom frames built in the UK...with a sprinkle of hipster...but they'll give u lugs if u like!!

  • Edison Lightweight Cycles in Clowne Derbyshire are still going Chris also used to work in the Lightweight shop I think as frame builder, he was I believe apprenticed there and his father Edward was chief framebuilder, When Carlton closed they set up at ...EDISON (Eddie and his Son).

  • NEILL ORRELL CYCLES
395 HOLLINGWOOD AVENUE, NEW MOSTON, MANCHESTER, M10 OJQ
    0161 6811517

Triple triangle 631 track frames £495.

  • Just to say I spoke to Trever Jarvis and a few others and got the update on basic prices and lead times.

Trevor reckons a basic 531 (525) type track frame would come in at approximately £500, but is working on a lead time up to Easter next year.

Bob Jackson have a six month lead time, but are a little cheaper at around £400.

Mercian could do 3-4 months at a push.

    Cheers,

  • Sorry, have some more. Ron Cooper is still going, reckons he could do £550 by Christmas or soon after (6-8 weeks). He's working out of Colour Tech now, Maiden Lane Dartford DA1 4LX.

Steve Goff in Lancashire reckons £445 with curly stays and some fancy extras, also 6 weeks.

Arthur Caygill quote the following: We have Reynolds 753 and 853 Tubing in stock + Columbus and Extralight and Some Japanese 017 tubesets available. Curly lugs arn't a problem, though they are expensive
and time consuming to cut. Would you want Steel forks, threaded, straight or raked? Example on price : 753 with all cast lugs, seat cluster and fork crown, steel fork, straight blades, would be £699.00. Painted, any single colour.(Lug lining is extra.)

And Engima will do a lugged frame at the following prices:

    Lugged 631 £799.00

    Lugged 853 £899.00

    Stainless head lugs 631 £899.00

    Stainless head lugs 853 £999.00

Still waiting for a return from Villiers.

    Cheers,

  • mercenary..... !

  • owee, that's really helpful. Thanks very much for the effort; its truly appreciated.

I'll add the info to the list.

Also, thanks to everyone else, that's helped find more information and any missing frame-makers.

You can add feather cycles to the list if you would GA2G. Ricky's currently working on some stock for BLB and tokyo FG I think, so you London-ites might get to have a look at one soon!

  • you forgot Nelson and Archie Wilkinson

I love my Nelson, should be ride-able this week, fingers crossed

  • Plastic Pedals, do Nelson and Archie Wilkinson actually make their own frames? I already have them listed in the OTP lists, and I'm aware they sell own-branded frames, but in Archie Wilkinson's case, in 2 sizes only. Not exactly made-to-measure eh?

  • Nelson used to build their own but now mainly import and badge frames.
    http://www.nelsoncycles.co.uk/about_us.htm

  • sorry didnt realise it was made to measure, just thought it was frames made in the uk

and looking at the Nelson site, thet all look imported nowadays and not built in Uk :(

    never mind

  • Last few! Paul Villiers got back to me, sounds like a fantastic bloke, lots of ideas. Very roughly he reckons a 531c type track frame would go for about £550, 651 would be abt £675, and 853 approximately £750. That is with some lugwork, detailing and so on. Order by Christmas for delivery around March.

Also Tim Maund at Rotrax reckons he could make up a custom frame for about £50 up on the stock prices listed on his blog (which you have to email him for, but range from £430 for the simplest frame, duck egg blue photographed on his blog atm, to £575 for the touring bike frame in flamboyant claret he has listed, and various prices in between depending on complexity). Order now for delivery in May 2010.

Me thinks I'm going to get me a Cooper.......
