Well this weekends comedy was great!
Saw Richard Herring do 'Hitler Moustache' on Saturday night. It was a really great show, had a few preachy moments but all for a very good reason due to the subject matter. The audience seemed a bit shit though. He had plenty of routines that were fantastic but didn't get much of a reaction. I have a feeling had it been Stewart Lee up there saying some of the same stuff, half the audience would be pissing themselves....shame really. Got a free Hitler moustache at the end of the gig too, so an added bonus!
Then I saw Tim Vine on Sunday night, now I know his style of unrelenting puns isn't to everyones taste, but you have to give the guy credit for what he does. He must have told a few hundred jokes throughout the set, to remember the volume of material he does is just amazing.
Very very silly jokes but there are just so many of them that once you start laughing you find it hard to stop! He also did 'pen behind the ear' for the encore which was both utterly shit and genius at the same time.
I think pen behind the ear is one of those things that 'works' much better live, as you can't quite believe that it's part of his act. Paying to sit and watch a guy try and catch a biro behind his ear.....
