I got my Kogswell back at the weekend after getting a few mods done to the frame, having a new fork built and getting the whole lot resprayed. I've posted some pics in the current projects thread. I'm really pleased with the overall finish, but there are a couple of details they just got plain wrong.
One is that after brazing the fork they didn't file the "ears" of the tangs of the fork crown. I was pretty sure these were just to aid casting and supposed to be filed off, but just to be sure I checked with Kirk Pacenti, who designed/sells these fork crowns and sure enough, yes they're supposed to be filed down. Now if I can see this, why can't an experienced frame builder? Can't help feeling they just couldn't be arsed.
I know it's not a super big deal and it's definitely not going to make any perceptible weight difference, but aesthetically it irks me, it's just not right. So I'm inclined to complain and ask them to take the fork back and file the ears, thing is this'll mean they'll have to respray the fork, which is a real pain. So the question is do people think under the circumstances this a reasonable request, or am I being unreasonable? Picture below so you can see what I'm talking about.....
