  • I'm not going to say too much about this, instead i'll let you read about it yourselves and watch the videos, but after 34,000km and having left in July 2006 the guys have finally completed their epic journey. Well done guys, i'm looking forward to the book!

Read all about it and watch the videos at the official website which no doubt will be updated further soon. http://www.ridingthespine.com/main.html

Here's a couple of videos just to inspire you to read more about it...

  • Thats it! I need a Big dummy!

  • I thought you had one, at least I saw you riding one once.

  • Oops! Scraggie's got the 'ump...

    Pretty impressive, SB...

that belongs to brixton cycles, but they kindly lend it out sometimes, so we can try and do stupid things like move house with it....heh.

  • 34000km.
    Thirty-four thousand kilometres.

    Thanks for posting - wow.

  • Shut it polo boy!

    Hardly... ;P

  • Tough choice between reading this inspiring craziness or that thread on locking technique and what mudguards you use.
EDIT - aha! just figured out who you are.

  • I would love to do something like that. They seem to be doing pretty technical riding with an extra cycle, I didn't think they would handle that too well but they seem fine.

Might try a small off road coast to coast in Scotland sometime this year staying in bothies and bivying. I did a 1 nighter in the outer hebrides a few years ago with some mates, I had a great time but I'm not sure about the rest of them. The weather was grim and there was loads of really hard climbing. Only me and another did the second day everyone else bailed and cycled back on roads, the second day was far easier better cycling too.

    ditto

That takes some effort. i love the fact they are in the middle of no mans land and the only car they meet on the top clip drives at them ;)
That is some serious slow progress through that terrain.

  • Looks awesome, wish i had audio at work so i could watch the vids. will check em out for sure when i get home. epic!

  • wow this one looks FUN!

the first video has a great sound track

  • I like the little clip at the end with them of looking knackered and bemused at the horse.

  • as does that one skully! lee scratch perry???

Do it, I did one this autumn and it was and I'm defiantly heading back this summer to finish off some unfinished routes. It is very tough as you say (I had 5 days worth of food at one point not that I needed to but I just wanted to avoid people) and there is some tough pushing but it's worth it.

In the same vain as the riding the spine guys trip this guy is riding the length of the Americas too and keeping largely off road. Writing's a bit pretentious and his bike setup seems to change with every journey entry but some excellent photos.
