For Sale: 57cm Borghini track bike

Posted on
  • Hi,

I bought this from e-bay a while ago as it was advertise as a bit bigger than it turned out to be. It is however a lovely bike for someone with smaller legs than me. It has only been used at Manchester and at Roundhay Park grass track.

    • A Borghini (columbus tubed) track frame and forks 56.5cm ctc seat tube.

    • Miche 165 cranks and chain-set.

    • Mach hubs on Alex rims or miche to Ambrosio rims depending on which you prefer, Miche wheels being slightly more expensive.

    • USE Alien seat post 27.2 mm with black Selle Italia saddle

    • Threaded headset with ahead adapter and long ITM stem.

    • Nice silver pista shaped bars Italmanubre? (not sure I've spelt that all very well)

Would be great if I could sell this sooner rather than later, so any decent offers via PM will be considered.

    Caveat:

    • There are currently no pedals on the bike, but I can throw some in, however I would have to send them as they are at University in Leeds.

    • I sort of need to keep the tyres and lock ring but this can be discussed via PM.

If there's any other measurements or photos you'd like then let me know and I'll pop over to the garage and get them for you.

    cheers, Will

  • Ballpark price?

  • Any sort of offers really, I bought it quite cheep so I'm not sure what its worth. I'd like to sell it this weekend so any offer is in with a chance!

Alternatively I'd swop for any nice 8 , 9 or even 10 speed campagnolo record or chorus parts? Ideally some 8 speed ergo shifters part exchange so I can get my sunday best bike up and running!

    Cheers

Hi guys, It's a 62cm c-t quite big! It's made from 531c and apart from the odd mark and touch up is in lovely condition. Th flashy campagnolo headset is also included. Looking about £135. I'll get some more pictures up later. I can also through in the Chorus? bottom bracket which is also in good knick

    deda grinta tires :{)

The Grinta's not the best, but the other is a Specialized Mondo :)

  • This looks perfect! im looking for a cheapish single speed to get round uni, save the hassle of too much maintenance, i'm very interested, just not sure how much you're looking for

  • Tux, there is no drilling in this frame for a brake. Not so perfect if you want to be able to stop!

  • oops, i hadn't noticed thanks! i'd at least want one at the front

i recommended getting an old road bike, and simply convert it to singlespeed, it's a LOTS cheaper (and not even that hard to do), ask relative, friends, etc. if they have any old bike in shed, car boot sales etc.

  • Thanks for the advice! how difficult is it to alter chain tension without track fork ends?
    J

  • Old road frames and touring bikes have Horizontal dropouts, they a are just not rear facing like track dropouts so it is easy to get tension. All you need to know is here...

  • Hi everyone, thanks for all the P.M.s, Seems to be allot of interest in the frame, and someone fancies the cranks. This means that I might end up spitting it, but I'd still rather sell it a bit sooner and as a whole. I've negotiated a space for it in my girlfriend basement in Hammersmith, so time isn't such an issue anymore.

Ideally I'd like around £300 for the bike, but this may be optimistic, and if it is I will either split it or offer it to those who are already interested for the amount they offered.

Forgot to mention that I have some chrome 501 drilled forks that should fit the bike (there in Berkhamsted but I will measure them later) that I can throw in for a little extra.

Equally if anyones interested in the bike without the wheels and someone fancies the wheels then that is pretty easy to do, I.E something my girlfriend could do without lots of fancy tools.

Thanks all, especially those who have got in touch, Will

  • Up for sale again. Sorry to mess about, I ended up going abroad before anything was finalized last time, and as such, the bike has been sitting in the garage ever since. The specs are the same, but I'll be keeping the wheels and seat post now.

To reiterate, you'll get the frame, forks, headset, miche cranks, bottom bracket, chain, stem, and handlebars.

The bike is now at my girlfriends basement in Hammersmith and she is happy for someone to pop round and collect it. Evenings probably best.

    Now asking £220 or offers?

    Cheers, Will

  • Dibs n that.

  • Did you sell the Gazelle?
