Thing about Apple, is that they cleverly marketed their device to be not part of a specific purpose that doesn't exist in the market.
the iPad is a perfect example, it's bigger than an iPhone but smaller (in term of technology) than a netbook of similar value, this way they can claim that the 'iPad' isn't an alternative to a netbook (thereforth there's no need to match the spec of a netbook let alone using the actual OS X on the iPad), but as a stand-alone unique device that no one make.
They did that with the iPhone too by not calling it a smartphone when it's release.
