I like the colour scheme but unsure about the nick/dick joke. Your folio should represent yourself and some people would argue that building it with indexhibit is lazy. But otherwise a good start and I can see that you have made some customizations to the CSS.

How have you found Indexhibit to use, is it easy enough to download for a mac? it looked a little complicated to me. Site has potential, I like the more rigid grids to the left in indexhibit with the work to the right being more free across the page, I assumed the nick/dick was a joke, take it off definately!

Have you checked cargofolio?
I can't see any wrongs with using a portfolio framework. It's about your other work and projects, not your portfolio. Unless you're filling your portfolio with old portfolios...

It's unclear how you're positioning yourself.
The site feels unfinished and light on content.
The Nick/Dick joke is a really bad idea.
The design of the site doesn't really hang together (get rid of the "hello" man, etc).I'd write yourself a brief about what the site needs to do functionally (helping you with the build) and what impression it needs to leave with viewers (helping you with the design/tone).

dick / nick baaad idea ..... not very professional
maybe just change the typeface so people aren't confused if you feel the need to explain what the letters are then is it a good type face ?

Spot on
the only thing I'd add is think a little about the navigation and get smarter with links. you need something there to make people come back

Cheers for the advice people.
Going to be working on the site this evening...

everything that Jono said and also include a synopsis of the brief and client for each project - that way the recipient can gauge whether your solutions are effective and appropriate

Nick/Dick. First rule of typography: you must be able to read it clearly. If there's confusion from letter one of word one you're going downhill rapidly.

Just did a quick swappy to the one without the handwritten bit.....
Now I honestly never had any problems reading this typeface myself, it was a few people I showed it too that said "hahaha it says dick" etc.
hmmmm

I think the grey back ground is to strong a colour and draws away from your work. Is it a 75% grey?
Also i think the vimeo clip would be better replaced with an embeded quicktime player.
Your site has a visual identity which is similar to the ustwo site you have linked to which could be a negative. -

I wish it was by me!
It's a font called bifurk, really nice chunky type... -

Not quite, but OK. first rule of typography is something more like:
YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE RULES OF TYPOGRAPHY, TO BREAK THEM. -

Loose the ugly type on opener,
loose the waving guy,
loose the About:, its not needed,
don't put copy above and below the vimeo video, keep the copy together,
loose the N.B. copy no need for it,
get someone else to help you with the words in general.Hope this is helpful to you!

What degree did you do?
I quite like the typeface. It does look a bit like it says dick though. Some people might find it funny, some won't find it funny, some will think you designed the font badly. I'd get rid of it.
Maybe as a navigation system you could have a section pop up when the cursor moves over each letter of your name. It'd be more interesting and neater than the clunky list you have at the moment.
If you do this, I'd move your name into the middle of the page, too. When the cursor goes over the letter, a little dialog box could pop up next to the letter. Even if you don't do this, the website needs some sort of 'intro' page - this could just be your name in that font in the middle of the page, and you click it to get to the 'home' page. As it is now, the 'main' section of your site is totally redundant.
When you go on the portfolio pages it says 'about' at the top. This just seems a little unprofessional to me - the images should be enough explanation. I think you need more stuff on there, too, it's a bit empty and doesn't show much variation. And I can't download your CV either.
I think in general it just needs to look a bit more polished and professional. It looks like a hastily thrown together webpage, which isn't what you want, especially you are a designer and this is essentially the first stage of any job interview.

Maybe you should present yourself as an multimedia design from the off?
Or even an artworker?
If you're going down the designer route you'll have to show more of the thinking behind your work. There doesn't seem to be much of a "problem -> solution" basis for any of your current work.
