I Bike 2010 Festival dates + events + DIY

Hello everyone...

the fourth i bike mcr annual month long festival is fast approaching.

we'd love it if you would like to organise and event, activity or bike ride...please try to organise the event with more than one other person so that if you're sick then there are still plenty of you to take over.. if you don't know anyone to help you then either come to a monthly i bike mcr meeting or post on the i bike mcr forum that you are looking for help

Man, going to miss hipstapaloser again - in Edinburgh working

on the plus side, if anyone needs accomodation for the weekend, I have a free room which can cram as many as will fit.

still at the stage where we can change the dates for things.....

and what exactly is hipstapalooza going to be this year?

dunno yet..wanna do hotnw and yo fixie? If not there are plenty of things i'd quite like to do with/to hipsters....

i hadnt decided on dates for the final hnw + fixed day... see what the time line for getting stuff sorted out is gonna be like...

my timeline for getting sponsors etc sorted out... i'll let you know if i can schedule my events to coincide with the festival, otherwise i'll hold them some other time

I'd be willing to do a build a skip trailer session for people if you want.

We successfully built one for almost free for liverpool cm. It took two full Saturdays though. Based on this design http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~talizmar/xntrick/pallet.htm

We required 2 pallets (from skips)
One Wheelchair with little wheels (from freecycle)
banister for towing arm (from skip, but wheelchair bits can do)

We had to pay for;
Nails --> £2-3
Ply board --> £4-8
Angle brackets for towing hitch and strengthening --> £2-8

Our one has to carry 70+ Kgs and it does. To make smaller trailers for shopping etc would be quicker. I've got 4 spare ball and socket joints for connection to the bike.

Perhaps if I got the materials and tools together, a number of people could build one as a skill share, perhaps as part of another event like I bike platt fields??

I assume you'll be riding over from Liverpool with it attached to your fixed ?

Haha, no we'll pop it in a van. I tow it with my tourer, using the tiny chainring for the most part. Max speed 10mph.

Had a few issues of it falling apart mid ride, but it's sorted now. It'd be reliable and quick enough to ride over with up to 20kgs though.

I'll grab the materials and tools and people can help build a trailer during the day, and i'll make instruction handouts. We could raffle the finished trailer or just anyone who helps gets their name put in a hat for it.

what a fantastic idea.....raffling would be brilliant...hopefully it's gonna be at the boathouse in platty..gonna see if we can get the pedal power disco in the porch and a big blackboard saying when each of the workshops are...shall make space inside so lots of room if rainy...
