  • RIP. Horrible news.

  • There is a website called Fill That Hole maintained by the CTC which lists potholes, allows you to report new ones and then automatically informs the relevant local authority.

Our local councillor recently investigated some roadworks which had been opened and then left unaatended for a considerable period of time. It turned out that the cast iron gas main had fractured. A temporary repair had been put in place and the company were awaiting a special section of pip to make a permanent repair. They didn't fill the hole for two reasons, one they would have only had to have dug it up again and there is no such thing as a "temporary road repair" and secondly they wanted to monitor the patched section. So sometimes it does turn out to be a more complicated reason than we think.

They patched and resurfaced the road pretty well not long after the report went out.

    Sorry for hijacking the thread.

  • those roadworks have been there for about 3 months now havent they?

....like war.... mmmm.... (i personally wish we were a neutral nation, maybe keeping nuclear weapons to appease those who desperately cling onto royal britannia, i mean who is really going to go through all france/europe and invade now? especially when we have with nuclear weapons in subs; i really dont see any need for all most all of our military. I'd prefer better repaired roads.)

Perhaps you would be more at home in a wine sipping communist utopia like France then .

  • Quite irrespective of roadworks, which may or may not have been a factor, the UK is considered to have the worst record on child pedestrian casualties in Europe--despite its apparent lower rate of casualties generally, this statistic stands out and is symptomatic of a failure to tackle the underlying problems.

  • Apparently as of yesterday evening, the roadworks have been completed and the dangerous temporary lights are now gone.

So after weeks of nothing at all happening there, all it takes is a child to die and then they turn up and magically finish the job in a few hours on the same day.
    Sickening.

  • Shit, Thats literaly around the corner from our place. It's been like that for quite a while now. I've nearly been taken out several times because of the confusion of those temporary lights. I don't understand why it's taking so long for them to finish the roadworks. It's a huge palava for such a small section of work. What a drag, Poor kid.

  • terrible news RIP little fella

    +1

  • awful, RIP little one.

  • Went through this morning and saw the flowers.......looks as though its all finished now though as the temp lights are gone
