don't pay over the odds for a drive from macupgrades just get one from dabs or ebuyer
i bought a firewire card and 500gb oem drive for £50 last week
swapped one of the drives out and restarted from a super duper clone and i was up and running with no data loss of software reinstalls to do.

super duper is quicker than time machine making the clone.

if you need to do data recovery then check out file salvage before sending it somewhere expensive. have recovered a few failing drives this way, it does take a long time to work it's way through a drive though

Cheers - good info. The only reason i used macupgrades was that I had no idea what drive I needed (or how the hell you got into a G4 ibook case to install it - again cheers apple).
