no. they are easy to use. just make sure the road wheels have a casstte rather than a screw on freehub and your fine. just need a cassette tool to fit them

hi tom
you should be fine with that in the space where the old block used to sit
i had a single speed with a conversion kit similar to that and it worked fine with QR's ( out of interest what dropouts have you got ) it really doesn't make much difference anyhoodoing something similar with a MTB rear wheel currently got one of these to go on track drops with a QR
it'll be fine

Thanks. It's a 80's 531 with semi-horizontal. The wheel is a Fulcrum 5 with a 10 speed cassette on it at the moment.

My only thoughts are that "external" QR's (dunno exactly what they're called..) where you can see the cam surface on the lever, and you can see the concave washer, don't generate nearly as much clamping force compared to the older, less sexy internal QR type (think shimano qr, campy qr) which are much better.
On a back wheel I've always regarded a qr as marginal under a big bloke* or a small person and a small gear, and skidding, so I tend to recco older stylee qr's. My (old stylee) qr axle seems to creep about a bit (medium size sprinter, minimal skidding), only a data set of 1 of course....
YMMV.

*personal experience only, no sexism intended, I just haven't known any 100kg female match sprinters/ teams print starters. -

These look really nice but as you say, they don't seem to include the cog, and bearing in mind I have a Campag body, I don't think this will work.
One other question - and thanks for replies so far - is this, or the one I spotted, 1/8th or 1/32"?
Has anyone got any experience or advice on using one of these conversion kits? Are they any good? Does using a QR on the rear wheel cause problems slipping?
