  • Had a bottle of the syntetic japanese whiskey and it gave me the most evil hangover ever.

I don't really get the sipping of whiskey, never been one of those that I've enjoyed. Occasional one off as a night cap but not something for a session. I do like whiskey and coke but have the cheapest whisky so not to waste decent stuff with a mixer. But I do like chivas regal but that is a blended whiskey. Oh and whiskey mac has been a new discovery and wow are they great. Is it better to use a cheaper blended whiskey for mixing and leaving the malts for sipping neat?

  • lynx, you are really quite unique.

Clearly this is a thread about the appreciation of whisky/whiskey, and your post is to then to discuss scotch&coke?

    *amazed*

  • Got me one of them when I did a whiskey tasting in Edinburgh on the royal mile. Currently drinking this.

Got it for £21 at Waitrose on a bin end.

I managed to empty one of those last weekend. I really like Caol Ila. Had a huge bottle of Maker's Mark bourbon next to it. That one was left mostly untouched.

  • I enjoyed some Midleton last night, lovely stuff... it was so very drinkable, not smooth per se but in no way harsh. It's put me in mind to buy some rare whiskey next time rather than just good whiskey.

  • Well it's Burns night tonight so have got myself a bottle of Glenlivet 15yr old to try.

@Skunk, I bloody loved that Whisky, need to get another bottle soon.

Thank you, usually my mummy says I'm unique.

I gave you my take in on whiskey (irish or scotish spellings) thats all.

The 18 is good. i got a bottle cheap on xmas eve, and was a little careless.

  • My wife won a prize in a works raffle.

What does one do with a £230.00 bottle of whisky.

Back of the cupboard for a special occasion? How long can it be left?

  • keeeeeeep it!

One of only 271 bottles. Distilled in March 1971

it will be worth more next year, more people that drink theirs - yours will be worth more ;)

most I would spend on a bottle of whisky for drinking is £60 anything over that is worth keeping and selling to the americans!

Duh. You send it to me.

  • Will do.

I don't like the idea of not being able to drink it, whisky is not an investment. If I ever get to london I could let you sniff the cork.

  • guy in the whisky shop round from my work trades whisky he buys to fund his holidays, he was saying he buys a couple of bottles around £150 from limited runs, puts them under his bed sells them the next year or so for £300 or there abouts

  • Makes note to PM Hael in 12 months.

  • :d

I bet you say that to all the boys..

  • Google Chrome's developer tools tell me that the above image represents "bliss".

If I didn't make use of those tools however I wouldn't have a bloody clue.

  • What's the rare booze shop in soho? Possibly on Old Compton St.

There's a bottle of single malt right at the back tucked away with a price tag of.....
    £30,000.
Can't remember the name but it was bottled in 1923.

I just wouldn't know what to do with it. Apart from drink it very quickly. Possibly served in a glass with ice and coca-cola.

That's the fella! Thanks! It's through those doors, take the right aisle and walk through the rum section, and the cigars - then it's right at the back on the top shelf towards the left.

It's odd it's kind of inconspicuously placed. I thought my eyes were deceiving me as the bottle at the next price down is about £5,000. And that's no where near it.

  • And yes, Gerry's ftw. When I first moved to London I was looking for a bottle of Hendricks and was working just round the corner from here so I popped in and was astounded. (Not very many well stocked offies in Martyr Worthy...)

  • theres a cadenheads near baker street, grand wee shop that!
